Alisher Usmanov
Alisher Burkhanovich Usmanov is a Russian-Uzbek billionaire businessman and investor, born in 1953 in Chust, Uzbekistan, who founded the investment conglomerate USM Holdings. He built his fortune primarily in metals and mining as a founder of Metalloinvest, one of Russia's largest iron ore producers, and later made early investments in technology companies including Facebook and Alibaba. He also owns the Kommersant publishing house, holds a stake in the mobile operator MegaFon, and served as president of the International Fencing Federation from 2008.
