Dr. Samuel Yin
Yin Yen-liang (16 August 1950 – 26 May 2026), known in English as Dr. Samuel Yin, was a Taiwanese businessman and philanthropist who served as chairman of the Taipei-based Ruentex Group, a conglomerate with interests in financial services, real estate, retail, healthcare and construction. He inherited the family business founded by his grandfather and later controlled Nan Shan Life Insurance and the RT-Mart hypermarket chain. A signatory of the Giving Pledge, he established the Tang Prize in 2012 with US$100 million of his own funds; his net worth was estimated at around US$5.5 billion.
