Thomas Milton "Tom" Benson Jr. (1927–2018) was an American businessman and sports franchise owner based in New Orleans, Louisiana. He built his fortune through automobile dealerships, banking, and real estate before purchasing the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League in 1985 and the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association in 2012. His estate is estimated to be worth approximately $2.9 billion.
