He is best known as the founder of Tinkoff Bank, launched in 2006 as Tinkoff Credit Systems, one of Russia's largest branchless online banks, and earlier built businesses including the frozen-food company Daria and the Tinkoff Beer brand. His net worth has been estimated at around $4.8 billion.
