Sanford Weill
Sanford I. Weill is an American banker, financier, and philanthropist best known for building Citigroup into one of the world's largest financial services companies. He rose from a Wall Street runner to co-found Carter, Berlind & Weill, and later engineered the 1998 merger of Travelers Group and Citicorp to create Citigroup, where he served as chairman and CEO. He and his wife Joan Weill are prominent philanthropists, having donated extensively to medical, educational, and cultural institutions.
