Ted Waitt is <cite index="1-1">an American billionaire businessman and philanthropist</cite> best known as <cite index="1-2">a co-founder of Gateway, Inc.</cite>, the personal computer company he started with his brother Norm Jr. and Mike Hammond in 1985. He led Gateway through its growth into one of the largest PC makers in the United States before stepping down as chief executive in 2000. Waitt later founded the Waitt Foundation and Waitt Institute, which focus on ocean conservation and philanthropy.
